Lightning GT

This electric car has everything what I think an electric car needs. Great body and superb performance. What makes the Lightning GT better then the rest (even the Tesla), is the fact that the car has 4 engines, a total of 700 hp. And the NanoSafe battery pack which allows the car to be charged in just 10 minutes. Also the batteries can be recharged approximately 15,000 times (a battery life of 12 years is garanteed).

As said the car has 4 engines, which are in the wheels it self. This has great advantages since there is no drive train needed. The only moving parts are the wheels. Another advantage is that you have instant 4 wheel drive, no special sophisticated  power  differentials and such. Everything will be handled by a computer. As the only thing it needs is electricity. Another great aspect is that the brakes can be regenerating only, no need for old fashioned brake pads and such. And connected to the CPU of the car, it can function as ABS. Not having a drive train, also means the regeneration of electricity is much more efficient then the other electric cars on the market today.

Performance of the Lightning GT

As to be expected with a combined total of 700 horsepowers, the car is fast. The top speed is over 130 mph and it acceleration is 4 seconds for 0 - 60 mph. I haven't found out what the range of the car is, but I guess it well over 100 miles, since it uses the NanoSafe battery pack.

Pricing and ordering of the Lightning GT

The car is not available right now, they will be sold in 2008. Of course you can pre-order the car, to do so visit their website http://www.lightningcarcompany.com. The website states that there will be 3 models available soon. The GT, GTS and GTSE, where S means Sport and E extended range. I haven't seen official pricing information, but what if read on other sites is it will go for about £ 150,000, which makes it the most expensive electric car, I've come across so far.
